The Scout/Interbake Phase 2
Scout’s site was the developmental west edge of the city, bordered by the Boulevard, now Arthur Ashe Boulevard, a main thoroughfare with direct connection to railroads and interstate access.Trends in city development are rewriting the function of this area to accommodate community uses: residences, work areas, and entertainment. On the Eastern Edge adjacent to the Washington Football Club’s training facility, the Scout rises as one of the first developments in this zone. The structure of the Scout is determined by two geometries sponsored by Arthur Ashe Boulevard and a smaller spur Myers Street on part of the site of the Interbake Cookie Factory, which cranked out decades of Girl Scout cookies from their fifth and sixth floor ovens.
